Happy Mother’s Day!!! What a special time each year to set aside time to think of and express our love to the Mother’s in our lives. I also think of Mother figures and influences that have helped to shape each of us for the better. I also know of and acknowledge that Mother’s Day isn’t the best day for some whether from loss of a Mother or strained relationships, or those trying to or hoping to become Mothers one day. I just want to express that I get it, Mother’s Day isn’t all sweet for all of us. For those that hurt this day, my heart goes out to you.
I think of what Mother’s Day means to me… You see I have technically have had three Mothers. I was adopted from South America in Bolivia. I had my birth Mother and then my other Bolivian Mother named Mary (a perfect name for her I feel, to describe her) who along with her sweet family, cared for me and took me in as a family member right after I was born. Then they brought me to the States, I was adopted by my wonderful parents who finished raising me. I also have my sweet Mother in-law Darlene who has loved me as her daughter and friend. Mother’s Day I am thankful and think VERY much of my sweet birth Mother and I miss her too. Just because someone is adopted doesn’t mean they don’t think of their birth Mother. I also think it’s ok to think of her and spend time being grateful for her. I don’t know much about her, but I know she made sure I went to a good home and her greatest wish for me was to be raised in the United States of America. At the time I was born, it was almost an impossible wish. She was in a third world country and didn’t know anyone in the States. She was determined though and through many angel helpers in Bolivia and in Utah, I was able to be brought to America and to become my Mom, Nola’s first daughter. I was three months old. I am very thankful for my Mom, Nola and for all she has taught me by her example of living each day as a strong, sweet, determined, selfless hard working woman.
I am now a Mother of two beautiful sweet babes. James and Elena have blessed me to become a Mother. I love being their Mommy. Being a Mother is so hard, and so worth it. I absolutely love being a Mother. I love caring for my family and making our home a sweet place to live and to make beautiful memories together. I love being their biggest cheerleader and to always encourage them as they discover their amazing talents and gifts. It is truly my greatest joy to be my babies’ Mom. I feel so blessed and honored to be their Mother. Happy Mother’s Day to all you Mom’s out there! You are amazing and you are doing great! Keep it up!
